If you’re a fan of Star Wars like we are, you’ll understand the obsession with lightsabers and how awesome it is to own one.

Imagine a game where you can boogie to the beat while wielding a lightsaber in each hand, combining your own lightsaber with music beats.

Beat Saber, a virtual reality game, will make you feel like a true musical Jedi.

Unrelated to Star Wars, Beat Saber is a rhythm game with a look and feel akin to Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution. You must slash color-coded blocks that are flying toward you with two laser swords, using your right hand to handle red blocks and your left hand to handle blue blocks. They also say which way to cut on the front, so you have to cut in the right way to keep your score combination.

We at whathevrar had no idea what we had been missing all these times. What fun! Chopping the blocks on-beat is very fulfilling, and it’s even more so when you settle into a groove on a challenging tune.

Playing Beat Saber is like a West Side Story-styled game of Jedi combat where we’re the action heroes and we’re dancing by ourselves in our studio to fantastic music. Not only that, but without even realizing it, we were actually working up a sweat and raising our heart rates.

One of the most well-liked and acclaimed video games for virtual reality is Beat Saber, which was released by the Czech independent firm Hyperbolic Magnetism. It merits all the praise it receives since it is a rhythm game that is intuitive, physically demanding, and nearly amazingly cool to play.

Beat Saber is essentially Dance Dance Revolution with lightsabers. A red or blue sabre is assigned to each of your motion controllers when the game first starts, and you see a stream of boxes marked with red and blue arrows that you must slash in the appropriate direction and at the appropriate moment using the appropriate sabre. The notes are broken up by obstacles that you must jump over or bombs that you must dodge with your sabres.

This method is not meant to mimic any actual activity, but after a few songs, it all makes sense. If you are interested in playing on harder difficulties and moving up the leaderboards in the game, it may also be very challenging.

So, if you like VR or are just getting into it, give Beat Saber a try and let us know @whatthevrar what you think.
